Write every day in November
a prompt in your inbox every morning
I teach this method and conduct workshops on it because it has been my own favorite approach to producing work over the past few years.
The immersion helps me get into the groove and I believe it can help you too. Why? Writing every day helps you form a habit, but not just the habit of writing. Since you’ll be sharing your work with your cohort every day, you will also practice letting go of perfection, or getting it right the first time (because we very seldom do!), and of putting the d*mn words on paper. At the end of the month, you’ll have 30 pieces to go back to, and that’s when you can fuss over a word or another, a line break or another.
But for now, let’s get those 30 pieces WRITTEN.
There is a sliding scale pricing of between $50-150, with the “real” value of the workshop being $100-120. I’m offering two full scholarships (one has already been taken!) unless someone else decides to pay it forward.
I’m often too busy to organize these monthly workshops, so it generally happens twice a year. Now is your chance!

Some FAQs:
How does it work?
Write every day based on the prompt you receive by email each morning (midnight if you live in Europe). A typical prompt will involve a poem or short essay (or parts of longer pieces). This means that throughout the month you will discover new poets and writers. The email will also include a writing prompt based on the piece provided.
How much time do I need?
There is no upper limit to the time you should dedicate to your writing daily, but I recommend a minimum of 20 minutes for this challenge. When sending longer pieces keep in mind that other participants may not have enough time to read the whole thing.
What is the group for?
When you’re done with your first draft (it doesn’t need to be perfect or edited) send it to the group by clicking ‘reply all.’ The best part of the workshop is that you will receive the other participants’ writing to the same prompt … and you’re encouraged to send feedback! I will send some guidance on writing feedback, but it will be a simple and rewarding part of the workshop, I promise you. Make it a rule to read and respond to a few people whenever you have a few minutes. It’s better than catching up on news! Naturally, I will participate in this part of the workshop too.
The one rule is that you have 24 hours to respond to the prompt and reply to the email. If you miss that day, move on to the next one. You won’t be judged or removed from the workshop. Life happens, and we all know that the day can slip by.
How much does it cost?
The pricing of this workshop is based on a sliding scale model that recognizes that money can be a barrier to access. This is not the same as a discount. If you are able to pay more than the value of the course, you will be helping another writer with lower financial means to gain access to the course. If you are committed to the work but cannot justify the lower end of the scale on your current budget, please don’t hesitate to ask for a scholarship. You can pay via Zelle, PayPal, Venmo, or Square (credit card). Just click the message button below for the details.
$60 - friend
$75 - companion
$100 - supporter (this represents the “real” value of the course)
$120 - partner
$150 or more - pay-it-forward patron
